Merry Christmas

Allie and Stewart had a wonderful Christmas! Stewart got everything he wanted and Allie just wanted to play with her brother's stuff. In the afternoon we went to the Rod's. Here are some highlights, the rest are at our Picasa Photo Album:

Random Allie News

Allie and I painted picture frames for the grandparents and great-grandparents. I did the same thing with Stewart for his first Christmas. She wasn't nearly as cooperative as Stewart was, however. So instead of fighting to get her perfect little feet and hand prints, I gave her both plates full of paint and the frames and let her attack them. And she did! It was all over once she started eating the paint :)

Here's Allie attempting to walk:

My little walker

Miss Allie took a couple of steps the other day! I haven't been able to catch that moment on camera but as soon as I do you'll be hearing about it!

Christmas Decorations

The Neal House is officially decorated for Christmas! Lil S helped!
This is Big S's grandfather's train set. Excuse the mess, I didn't have time to clean up before Big S started taking pictures!

There's more but you get the picture. I think you can see our house from space now :)

Thanksgiving Program

Stewart's class had a their Thanksgiving program today. They sang a few songs and then afterward we all went to the cafeteria for a feast! It was quite a show, here's a preview of what they sang:

You heard them right, they said "My mom is on a diet and she shouldn't be eating this". AHHH!!!

Growing Pumpkins

Lil S and I planted pumpkin seeds after Halloween. Not thinking they'd actually grow, I planted a seed in 2 vases. Look at them now!

Halloween

I'm sorry, I forgot to post this! Lil S had a great Halloween. Grammy visited which was the icing on the cake. At school they weren't allowed to dress up, but all the Kindergartners had a huge Pirate party with games and activities and everyone dressed up like a pirate!

That night Lil S was a Ninja, AJ was a cow. Lil S carved his very first pumpkin. Then he tied one of his red ties from his costume onto AJ's head. Trick or Treating was exhausting, we hit 20 some odd houses, and Lil S's bag of candy was so heavy he couldn't even carry it :) I have more pictures on our Family Photo Album.

Christmas Toy Catalogs

Every year certain stores come out with a huge toy catalog. This is Lil S's favorite thing in the whole world! Not Christmas...the catalogs! This year it seemed like everyone came out with a toy catalog, so Lil S is in hog heaven! He sleeps with them, he writes in them, he rates them from most to least favorite. The other night instead of reading a book at story time we read the JCPenney toy catalog. I'm telling ya, the boy is obsessive!

Stewart's School Picture

Isn't he cute? And so angelic-looking :)

Mollie K Photography

My very talented friend, Mollie, took our family pictures recently. She put them up on her blog and they're AMAZING! I highly recommend her to anyone, but she's exceptional with children. Here's her blog http://molliekphotography.com/blog/2008/10/the-one-about-the-fun-n-family/

Transportation Parade

Lil S's school had a Transportation Parade last week. All the Kindergarteners made vehicles and wore them in the parade. Lil S and Big S made an airplane. It was really cold that day, but it was fun :)

New Pet

Lil S would like to introduce you to Winky and Gerald, his new fish. Lil S has been saving his money for months now and this week we went and spent it all on his new pets! Big S and I give him money for doing random chores, he gets more if I don't have to ask him 300 times :)

Warning: Do Not Try This At Home

Yes I know this is bad but I couldn't resist. I was unwrapping my Tupperware stuff and had all the bags in a neat little pile and AJ raced over and attacked it! She was having so much fun I just couldn't take that away from her!!!

AJ loves her brother

I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Because I know in a few years it'll be "Mom, Allie's too little to play with me!!!" and "Mom, Stewart's touching my stuff!!!"

Here are the two angels getting along marvelously. I got the little chair out of the attic that mom got AJ. It looks just like Lil S's only alooooooooooooooooooooooot cleaner and, of course, it's lavender.

Our Little Smart @$$

Lil S's school does preliminary evaluations on the students to see where they are at academically. The Kindergartners are tested on their ability to recognize upper and lower case letters, and recognize objects and the letter they start with. Example, Horse start with an "H". A score of 8 or above is considered "Developed", meaning they most likely will not have a problem learning to read. Stewart scored a 12 on one section and a 26 on another! Big S and I were FLOORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Transportation Day is coming up and all the Kindergartners are making vehicles that they will wear and march in a parade. Here is Lil S's. Big S helped him and I think it turned out great!

AJ is cutting another tooth, or several by the way she's been acting. She hasn't been sleeping or eating well which makes her super cranky. Last night however she slept much better so keep your fingers crossed!

Welcome Home

It is so nice to be home! The flight there was nice. AJ slept the first hour and the last 2 hours she just sat on my lap and looked around. She also discovered the food tray so that kept her entertained. The flight back wasn't so great. She didn't sleep at all and cried alot. But we loved visiting everyone and I loved showing off little AJ. Too many pictures to put on here so I updated the Photo Album. Here are some highlights:

Little Shopper

I got my usual Sunday paper today and sat on the floor to cut out coupons. Lil S called me into the other room for something and then I got sidetracked. Then I hear a rustling sound coming from the living room. And here's what I find:

Big S said "Starting her a little early aren't you?"

THAT'S MY GIRL!!!!!!!

Busy busy busy week

Oh good lord this has been a busy week! Scott and Laura were chased out of Houston by Hurricane Ike and came to stay with us for a week. It was very interesting! Between the two familes we had two mommies, two daddies, two kiddos, two babies and two dogs. Everyone had someone to play with! Here are some pictures:

Updates

This weekend we went to Dinoland. It was SOOOO hot and humid and crowded, but we did have a great time! Even AJ was happy snuggled in her backpack carrier. Lil S picked out this dinosaur visor that he wore for about an hour and I haven't seen it since.

Lil S loves cafeteria food! The first few days of school I would send him with his lunch, and he'd come home with a full lunchbox.

"Why didn't you eat your lunch" I asked him
"I did!" he replied.
"How?" I asked him
"The lunch lady fed me."

They have an account system at school and all the kid does is tell the lunch lady his last name and she pays for his lunch out of an account. The first day he had a negative balance because obviously, I had planned on packing his lunch everyday! So now he eats cafeteria food everyday with his friends. It's not that bad, in fact its one less thing I have to do in the morning. AND you wouldn't BELIEVE the amazing food they feed these kids! Here's tomorrow's menu: Chicken Nuggets with a whole grain roll, chicken fried steak on a bun, bean and cheese burrito, sliced turkey sandwich, fresh veggie and cheese plate, black eyed peas, cucumber circles, fresh broccoli, fruit wedges, and chilled pears. That's ONE LUNCH! That's WAY better than any lunch I could ever pack him!!!

Old Home Movie

I was digging through some old pictures of Lil S and found this video from when he was 5 months old. He was already sitting up, which AJ hasn't quite mastered yet and she's almost 6 months old. Excuse the camera tilt halfway through, don't really know what that was all about :)

The Screecher

Drumroll please....

This is AJ doing that horrible screeching sound I wrote about earlier. Its terrible, but I've managed to block it out most of the time. Except tonight she was doing it just because she was tired and it was only 6pm so I was trying to keep her up a little longer. Unfortunately she ended up waking Daddy so that was the end of that! Off to bed she went :)

First Day of School

Well we survived! Lil S was not happy having to wake up so early, or about getting dressed, or having his picture taken, or driving to school... But once we got there and into his classroom he was ok with me leaving him. Afterwards a few of us moms got together and had coffee which was WAY therapeutic!
Last night Stephen was eating these Vanilla Cream cookies and AJ was watching him so he gave her one. She took to it like a rabid dog!!!
